Innovative Solutions for a Greener Rural India

Spring Health integrates climate responsibility directly into its water delivery model. By reducing household emissions, investing in clean mobility, and powering village infrastructure with renewable energy, we ensure that expanding access to safe drinking water also delivers measurable environmental returns.

Our commitment

We committed to a radically decentralized and environmentally responsible model that delivers safe drinking water while protecting the planet.

By providing ready-to-drink purified water, we eliminate the need for households to boil water using wood, coal, or kerosene, reducing deforestation, carbon emissions, and indoor air pollution. Our purification process is designed for efficiency, generating zero effluent and ensuring no water is wasted during treatment.

BATTERY-OPERATED MOBILITY

Lower emissions. More reliable delivery.

Spring Health is transitioning from hired diesel autos to a dedicated fleet of battery-operated auto-rickshaws for last-mile water delivery. This shift improves delivery reliability while directly reducing carbon emissions in rural villages. The Auto Rickshaw Project also enables delivery executives to own vehicles, strengthening income stability and accountability at the local level. Our long-term vision is to move toward solar-powered rickshaws, eliminating dependence on fossil fuels.

~2.5 kg CO₂/day avoided per vehicle compared to diesel autos

12 pilot EVs deployed, with plans to scale across kiosk networks

Improved delivery consistency and reduced operating costs

SOLAR-POWERED INFRASTRUCTURE

Clean energy at the village level.

Each Spring Health water kiosk is designed as a self-sufficient 10×10 unit, powered by rooftop solar panels. Solar energy runs the water treatment process, including electro-chlorination, and supports battery charging, ensuring uninterrupted operations even in areas with unreliable electricity. This decentralised design enables round-the-clock access to safe water with a near-zero operational carbon footprint.

Reliable operations during grid outages

Zero-carbon energy use at the point of treatment

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

By delivering treated drinking water, Spring Health eliminates the need for households to boil water using wood or kerosene, cutting emissions, reducing indoor air pollution, and easing pressure on local forests. This impact is independently verified through Gold Standard–certified carbon credits, making Spring Health one of the first water enterprises globally to link clean water delivery with climate finance.

Climate impact that funds scale.

50 certified kiosks generate 10,000 tonnes of carbon credits.

Carbon revenue reinvested into kiosks and delivery infrastructure

Zero effluent purification process with no water wastage
